Effect of Fe and Thermal Exposure on Mechanical Properties of Al-Si-Cu-Ni-Mg-Fe Alloy

The effects of Fe, Cr and thermal exposure on the microstructure mechanical properties Al-Si alloy were investigated in this work. results indicated that main phases Al-Si-Cu-Ni-Mg-(0.6–0.9%) Fe (wt. %) α-Al, Si, Al5Cu2Mg8Si6, Al3CuNi, Al7Cu4Ni, Al2Cu, AlFeSi at room temperature. size AlSiFe phase increased with increasing weight fraction Fe. shape Fe-rich changed from rod-like to star-like, followed by long needle-like varying 0.6% 0.9%. studied alloys elevated temperatures ultimate tensile strength three 350 °C was 111.2 MPa, 124 128.7 respectively. In addition, ductility temperature decreased due large hard brittle strictly cleaved aluminum matrix. After exposure, obviously beginning 0.5~8 h, then tend be stabilized during for approximately 32~64 h. a stable °C.
